Falls Prevention Clinic
At your appointment, you will be seen by either an Occupational Therapist or a Physiotherapist and a member of our support staff.
Your appointment will last for up to 1½ hours and during this time you will work closely with the clinic team to develop an action plan that will help reduce your falls risk.
Come to the clinic wearing comfortable clothing and shoes and bring any walking aid that you use.
You will have received a questionnaire in the post with your appointment letter. This questionnaire asks about the difficulties you might have in your home environment. Please remember to bring this to your clinic appointment.
The aim of the clinic is to:
-
Identify things that you could change to reduce your risk of falls.
-
Act as a referral point for other services that might be of help.
-
Provide home visits to assess for equipment and adaptations that will help you in your home environment.
-
Review walking aids that you are currently using and ensure that they are right for you.
-
Identify exercises that you can do, either at home or in a group setting, that will improve your strength and balance.
We are happy for you to attend the clinic with a family member or carer if you would prefer not to come alone.

Ask your GP or any health and social care professional to refer you to the Community Adult Assessment and Rehabilitation Service for a clinic appointment.
